Posted in museum | 2 Comments »

I live right by the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn MI and I have always wondered how we received Abraham Lincoln’s assassination chair (the chair he was sitting in when she was killed). Does anyone know how the museum inherited this chair. Also, is this the 100% actual chair that he was killed in? Thanks in advance!

i thought that pres lincoln was assassinated at the ford theater. maybe they turned it into a museum. he was sitting on the top balcony.

I’d rather not do a search on google or something.
For the first answer I am sorry I gave you a low rating but now I see that you edited it.
I also want something for kids not like college or something just to let you know. Like Cresskill Performing Arts Center. It teaches kids performing arts like acting.

Career Profile: Visual and Performing Arts
One who is both creative and artistic might enjoy a career in the visual and performing arts. According to Dictionary.com, visual arts, as the name suggests, are arts that are meant to be viewed and studied, such as paintings, sculptures, and photos. Performing arts are arts that involve physical movement, such as acting for a play or film.

As with other arts, there are a number of creative paths one may choose from in the visual and performing arts field. One may, for instance, choose to study and recreate classical pieces, create pieces that reflect current trends, or create something entirely original and unique. While some artists consider art their hobby, others make a living at it, selling pieces or doing pay shows.

While a degree or formal training is not absolutely essential for all artists, it can certainly help. One who has a steady hand and a keen vision may have a knack for painting, but unless he or she learns how to manipulate the oil or canvas to actually create a piece reflecting that vision, he or she may be disappointed with the final project. Still others, particularly those going into photography or film, need some sort of formal training in order to learn how all the equipment works and how to go about the processing the film after shooting.

Free online photo gallery where visitors can contribute photos?

December 282009

Posted in gallery | 3 Comments »

I’m looking to publish a photo gallery on my website that allows my website visitors to upload their own photos to the gallery. Ideally this application would be free, but I’m trying to steer away from anything with a lot of ads or limitations. Any thoughts?

You can publish at Flickr.com (and use your Yahoo account). I allows you to have your own photos and then you can decide who sees them, or if you want them to upload their own photos.

If you have a .Mac account (annual fee) and the newest iLife ‘08 software, you’ll also be able to share your photos from iPhoto and have others share their photos if you want. This doesn’t have ads.

Good luck! :)

Can you go to school for event planning or wedding planning?

December 282009

Posted in event | 1 Comment »

Hi, ok so recently I have decided that I want to become a event/wedding planner. I am only 16 so I still have time to decide. But I was wondering if there are any colleges that you can major in event planning? And do they make a lot of money? Thanks!

You can pretty easily find certification programs but you’ll be hard pressed to find an accredited bachelors degree program. I know I haven’t.

You might consider related courses of study. Wedding planning is about business, leadership, project management, fashion design, interior design, and even some performance arts.

Wedding planning is primarily is a trade skill. No matter how much education you get, you’ll still have to be shown the trade.

Just to be perfectly clear, a college education helps ANY career. That being said, you should look at organizations like the Association of Bridal Consultants and the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants.

You might also consider getting some experience planning some small, simple weddings while you are in college. Being able to say that you’ve been in the business for four years is pretty good.
