Two years ago, The Airborne Toxic Event formed in Los Angeles, a city with one of the strongest and most diverse music communities in the country right now. Without a manager, a PR company, or a label, they still received overwhelming critical and popular acclaim. Rolling Stone named them one of the Top 25 Bands on MySpace, and The LA Times, LA weekly, NME and countless music blogs have written rave reviews about their energetic live shows. Earlier this year, their residency at Silver Lake’s popular venue Spaceland was spread by word of mouth to the point where lines were wrapped around the block and every show was sold out. Due to popular demand, the legendary radio station KROQ began playing their song, “Sometime Around Midnight” on regular rotation, and it quickly became the most requested song. This marks the first time KROQ has included an unsigned band on their playlist in over ten years.

In this episode of Rehearsal Space, singer and founder Mikel Jollett gives an introduction to this exciting band. He explains how these five musicians came together, why they recently chose to sign to Majordomo Records, and the process by which they recorded their self-titled debut album, which will be released on August 5, 2008.

What is the major event of the anaphase stage of mitosis?

What is the major event of the anaphase stage of mitosis? What is evidence of this? Please provide a link to the website you used to help me further.
Thanks!
Why is this event absolutely critical to mitosis? (Thanks again for your help!)

Anaphase is the stage of mitosis when sister chromatids break apart and split into two distinct halves. This allows each new cell to have the same DNA as the parent cell.

I am currently employed full-time as an events specialist at a new york based PR Firm. However, I would like to eventually be self-employed and work as an event’s consultant- primarily for corportate events. My goal is to be able to create my own schedule and work from home, while doing what I love to do-events! Any ideas how to get the word out besides a cold call?
I am currently employed full-time as an events specialist at a new york based PR Firm. However, I would like to eventually be self-employed and work as an event’s consultant- primarily for corportate events. Being in NYC, it’s not as easy as putting my flyer in a local businesses or on a telephone pole. My goal is to be able to create my own schedule and work from home, while doing what I love to do-events! Any ideas how to get the word out besides a cold call?

NETWORK! Find out what kind of special events organizations are around and take active roles in them (your current job may actually pay the membership fees!). Join groups likeInternational Special Events Society, Meeting Planners International, and or your local Convention Bureau. The events business is cliquish, you have to know people. And, you have to be aroud a while because lots of people get in and out of the events business thinking its all glamourous and thus the players keep their distance until they know you are gonna be around for a while. Check out those groups…

Recitation of Hadith Al-Kisa by Syed Walid Mazeedi.

Hadith Al-Kisa (Narration of the Cloak) is the narration of an incident where the Prophet Mohammed (saw) gathered Ali, Hassan, Hussayn and Fatema (peace be upon them all) under his cloak and announced them as his Ahl (Family). It was then that the second part of verse 33:33 of the Holy Quran was revealed, known as “Ayat al-Tathir” (Verse of Purification), in which Allah states He has purified the Family of the Prophet (Ali, Hassan, Hussayn and Fatema), thus proving their infallibility.

This narration has been narrated by many people, including Umme Salma, Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari, Ayesha, and Ibne Abbas. There are also various modifications and differences between the narrations of the different people. The most authentic version of Hadith Al-Kisa, according to the Shia, is that version which has been narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari, all other versions have either been edited or are incomplete.

What is a good event to organise for the youths? Thinking of involving our college 17,18 year olds …?

February 222010

Posted in event | 5 Comments »

It will bbe powered and sponsored by our youth committee? Need to keep budget low, and we can’t charge people too much for the competition/event.

Something that will be fun and pleasant for youths (13-35) and my friend and I are thinking of involving our two junior colleges.

As the youth committee is a community association, we need to do something that is considered "okay" for the community?

A "Battle of the Bands" event is always well attended in our area; but this might be more time consuming and expensive than you can do. How about an ‘Open Mike Night"? You could specify an age range for the performers. You could either charge admission or sell refreshments to bring in some money to cover expenses.

Host a young artists festival. Your target audience could be invited to enter their artwork in a competition. You could invite adult artists in your area to be judges. Solicit local businesses and indviduals for prizes. The community colleges could be invited to enter the competition or how about do demonstrations: drawing cartooning, do quick sketches/portraits, sidewalk chalk art, pottery, painting, photography, etc. Again, sell refreshments to cover costs.

Host a Geo-Caching, Orienteering, or treasure hunt event.

Take them back to their younger days and host a "field day"; include events like tug-of-war, jump rope, shooting baskets, biggest or most bubbles created contests, sack races, etc.

Do a group community service project.

Host a costumed dance. Hire a dee-jay. Pick a theme for the costumes: Heroes & Heroines, Favorite Character from a Video Game, Teens in the Future, etc. Charge a small admission and sell refreshments.

How do I go about getting an event sponsor for a charity event to raise money for Cancer among children?

February 202010

The company I work for are holding an event in a few months to raise money for cancer among children. How do I go about getting a brand to sponsor the event?
Its best to just email/contact companies and for example say, We are doing this, will you help pretty much?

We could fund the event, but that would pretty much ruin the idea of doing the event, does that make sense?

First you need to contact the Nonprofit Charity, receive permission to use their name in raising the funds and operating the event. Once you have written permission you write to corporations and state who you are, what charity you are connected with, include a copy of the written permission and solicit their support or a donation.
