If a museum were burning down and you could save 1 piece of artwork, which would it be and why?

In this scenario, the museum is theoretical, and it contains all of the important works of art that exist. You CANNOT pick artwork that HAS existed, but doesn’t anymore. You cannot pick more than one, and there is nothing you can do to save the rest of them, anything you don’t pick will be destroyed for all time.

I could not do it. whatever I came to first, I suppose. Important artwork is important for a reason. Each one a depiction of the soul of a person, in many cases an entire people, in a place and time on this earth. They could each be argued for I’m sure, but how could any one really be more important than another?

Have creationists never been to a museum before?

So I grew up going to museums and you can literally see the fossils of how animals change over long periods of time. Like they have them lined up.

So do creationist just don’t go to museums? How come their parents never took them to a natural history museum when they were home schooled? Or is this all a trick by the devil, or the Illuminati, or more lies from the evilutionist?

does the creation museum count? i’m not a creationist but i wanna go just to see people riding on dinosaurs like they do in the flintstones.

Also what is the closest beach from the Museum? and how do we get there?

Cab it for about 10.00 depending on the traffic and congestion…If you have time to walk and the wweather is fine then plan on taking about 45 minutes to 1 hour to getting there…..The closest/nice beach is Oak street beach and teh best way there is either by cTA or taxi…It is at ground zero for downtown Chcago but still wuite a long long walk form teh museum…Best to get public transpo or taxi up there…Beach is free by the way but for now there are no lifegurads and swimming is officically prohibited ( water way too cold anyway) Lifeguards ususally post just around Memeorial Day weekend for the first time

His birthday is coming up and I would like to take him somewhere fun and adventerous. An interactive museum or something like that might be cool. We live in Southern California. Any ideas?

Head to Balboa Park, San Diego.

Several museums, A zoo, and the park. Lots for you to enjoy as well.

I plan to get off at 33rd street or world trade center, how do u get to the metropolitan art museum from there?

If you coming from Jersey City, most PATH from Hoboken goes to World Trade Center or Hoboken.

Option 1: Take WTC-bound PATH to World Trade Center. Walk east to Broadway/Fulton St where you could catch uptown (4)(5) express straight to 86th St.
Exit at SE corner stairs and make immediately right and walk west toward 86th St until you see park at 5th Av. Turn left and museum is on 82nd St.

From 33rd St/6th Av/34th St-Herald Square.
Take Queens-bound (N)(R)(W) to Lexington Av-59th St for uptown (4)(5) express at lower level or (6) local upper level to 86th St.

How do I submit artwork for display at a museum or gallery? Specifically, the Baltimore Museum of Art?

I’m looking for addresses or names of people to submit photos for consideration at any museum or gallery. Any information would be helpful.

You would have to ask for their curators names. With respect to submitting art work for display at the Baltimore museum of Art, one is usually invited. An invitation to participate in an exhibition is called a "call for artists" .
This "call" will usually specify the manner in which the selection panel wants to see your work. It wouldn’t hurt to call the Museum and talk to the operator first, from there you should receive some direction. Remember to ask to be placed on the "call for artists" list.

what is the purpose of the museum of tolerance?

I have to write about the meaning and purpose of the museum of tolerance, but i have never been there, and therefore am clue less on how to even begin. Can some body please help me?

Sounds like the Holocaust museum; I had to go there years ago when i was doing research for a project and although I knew "all about" the Holocaust, actually going there and seeing the shoes eyeglasses teeth and hair had a huge impact on me and also all the enormous photographs they had lining the walls. To look at their belongings and know their fate was terribly moving and emotional, took me a while just to get my emotions under control.
OTOH< I went to a swap meet inside a mall years ago and one guy had all this Nazi memorabilia and I had never seen any of it in real life so that was a huge shock, the swastikas helmets etc pure evil.

How do I set my Nikon D40 to take pictures in a museum that does not allow flash?

I’ll be catering a dinner at Metropolitan museum of Art in NYC. Afterwards, we will be allowed to roam the place and take photos. I have the AF-S 18-55mm lens that came with my kit and it takes amazing photos outside and inside (when I use my flash, if needed). I have no idea where to begin or how to practice test shots for this dark environment.

If you can get a fast lens, that would help. You will need a wide aperture, and a fast lens will allow a wider one than a standard zoom. Set your ISO high, and expect noise. If they allow a tripod, use one. If not, practice holding very still while taking a shot, including holding your breath. Leaning on something will help some, if you can find a wall or column nearby. If you can’t use a tripod, maybe you can prop your camera on something and use the self-timer.

What Ghost Hunter’s location consisted of a museum where two of the guys felt something behind glass?

All I remember, is two of the TAPS guys were sitting against the wooden frame of a glass encased, climate controlled room of a museum. They both heard tapping on the other end of the glass. Anyone know what location I’m thinking of?

How much can a visit to a museum tell you about the culture of the people?

I’m going to do some general research on Native Americans, and I am wondering how well a museum can help a person understand a native culture. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of a the museum as a tool for communicating accurate and complete information about a culture?

Enough to get you interested in doing some REAL reading on the subject.

Or maybe enough to do a five-minute oral presentation for school.

Going to a museum to learn about a different culture is like trying to stay abreast of current events by only reading the headlines of newspaper articles.
