Hadith Al-Kisa (Narration of the Cloak) is the narration of an incident where the Prophet Mohammed (saw) gathered Ali, Hassan, Hussayn and Fatema (peace be upon them all) under his cloak and announced them as his Ahl (Family). It was then that the second part of verse 33:33 of the Holy Quran was revealed, known as “Ayat al-Tathir” (Verse of Purification), in which Allah states He has purified the Family of the Prophet (Ali, Hassan, Hussayn and Fatema), thus proving their infallibility.
This narration has been narrated by many people, including Umme Salma, Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari, Ayesha, and Ibne Abbas. There are also various modifications and differences between the narrations of the different people. The most authentic version of Hadith Al-Kisa, according to the Shia, is that version which has been narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari, all other versions have either been edited or are incomplete.

Please be realistic logical and considerate about our brothers. You can use logic , for instance saying that Bukhari got maximum hadith from Abu harira who became muslim just about couple of years before the death of prophet. Whereas he hardly have hadith from Imam Ali who from the time of his birth until prophet died stayed together. He also have almost no hadith from Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain. He also rest of Imams. This clearly make collection of his hadith doubtful and untrust worthy

There is sahih hadith in bukhari which says 12 khalifas after prophet Muhammad S A. those 12 are our imams. they are all decendents of prophet.

Actually concept of Imamah in Shia Islam means thath believe that Allah has appointed 12 successors to the Holy Prophet (saw). We believe that the human beings must have leaders appointed by Allah until the last day on the earth, even if the prophethood was finished about 1400 years ago. These are the Imams, the 12 Imams. First of them being Imam Ali (as) and last Imam Mahdi (as). We believe that these are the spritual leaders of all muslims after the Prophet Mohammed (saw).

You’re on the right path hamdulillah. You’re not confused, you were just misinformed. With all do respect to the Sunni school of thought: The 12 Imams which the 1st was Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb is believed to be the 1st Khalifah after the Prophet (pbuh) because the Prophet (pbuh) appointed him since he was his family and his son-in-law and also there are Quranic verses that show proof, can’t get in to too much detail. But do your research and understand and come to your own conclusion! good luck!

Salaam to brothers in Islam. As far as i know Islam is the Ummah of Mohamed (PBUH). I believe in Allah and the last Prophet (PBUH). And follow the 4 Khalifah (Abubak, Umar, Usman & Ali) RA. I respect the Ahl Baith (Family of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH)). But i don’t understand why Muslims are divided on Shia n Sunnis. I was born as Sunni Muslim i’m very much confussed with the Shia belief on the 12 Imams. Maybe my iman is not strong to justify it but i can’t say against the other 3 true Kalhifas (RA)

brother, it is true that ahadith are easier to interpret, but Quran is the words of Allah (SAW) and they are more beautiful than ahadith, its hard to interpret quran because every verse was revealed at a different time, it was slowly revealed in a 23 year period, when a verse was needed it was revealed, there is nothing more beautiful than Quran, after that comes ahadith
