what about FDR running for a third term.

After that, legislation was put in so that presidents could only run 2. It may not seem like a big deal....but there were many presidents who I could in vision wanting to run another time (Reagan, Clinton, W. Bush) and if they had won then a LOT would be different.
References :
The television became commercially available in the 1930s. It really was insignificant at the time, mostly due to the depression. After WWII it started to become popular.

There are both good and bad effects of the introduction of the television. It allows us to learn new things (PBS), get new points of view, and provides countless hours of entertainment. On the other hand, it has changed society in many ways. Along with other things, it is a contribute to health problems due to obesity. Communities may be less close as there are other things to do than going to community activities. Many of our "morals" have changed over the last seventy years, with TV being a major factor.
References :
Somebody already said Rosa Parks. Possibly her not giving up her seat to a White man was a big turning point. After that somewhat simple act, the tide was turned that eventually led to Civil Rights Acts, Voting acts and other changes.

If nothing else, now just imagine taking public transportation in a major city and not allowing African Americans to sit near the front of the bus. (Actually not that many Whites ride buses in my area, but anyway)

Another could be when either Elvis or the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. Both kicked off revolutions in the way people dressed, wore their hair, played music, etc. and to one degree or another led to rebellion and rebellion in the 60's brought a lot of change.
References :
It was not until 1947 that the first regularly-scheduled TV programs began to appear. The first was Puppet Playhouse, a children's program which later became The Howdy Doody Show.
References :
How about Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat to a white person on a bus. It is a relatively small event in the grand scheme of things, but it helped launch a major civil rights movement.
