Looking at traveling to Paris for a short time June-August time. Just wondered if anyone knew of some good music festivals? Preferably lasting a few days?
I would say Solidays. Last year it was in July. It’s the most renowned.

The Second would be Rock an Seine. And it was in August.

There are hundreds of music festivals throughout France but outside Paris. June 21 is the national music festival with people playing music in the street but I find Paris to be one of the worst places to be in that day (it attracts too many trouble-makers). Here is a list of music festivals in France, just select the Paris region but there is hardly anything in downtown Paris, especially in summer when the city is deserted by Parisians:

The famous rock/pop festivals are in Brittany, Central France, seaside resorts or anywhere outside Paris: Festival des Vieilles Charrues, Eurockéennes de Belfort, Printemps de Bourges, etc (just to name the most famous ones).

I’ve lived in France.
As Cristina , Solidays Festival and Rock en Seine .
Solidays is cheap (because benefits go to AIDS research ) : early july (in 2008 it was 4, 5 and 6 of july) about 30euros for 3days if you buy at the beginning
Rock en Seine is really more expensive , 2 or 3 days that depends . end of august (between 25 and 29 generally )
also the Furia Sound Festival, end of june. I’ve never been there but there are good bands.
and in Paris Plage ( Paris Beach) , there are some concerts .
Have a good time in Paris !
but if you have to choose one , Solidays and Rock en Seine are the best. The biggest bands are in Rock en Seine (Muse , Radiohead, Bjork , R.E.M , Morrissey..) but the ambiance is better at Solidays fest.
