I’m looking to publish a photo gallery on my website that allows my website visitors to upload their own photos to the gallery. Ideally this application would be free, but I’m trying to steer away from anything with a lot of ads or limitations. Any thoughts?
You can publish at Flickr.com (and use your Yahoo account). I allows you to have your own photos and then you can decide who sees them, or if you want them to upload their own photos.
If you have a .Mac account (annual fee) and the newest iLife ’08 software, you’ll also be able to share your photos from iPhoto and have others share their photos if you want. This doesn’t have ads.

Deviatart.com. It’s amazing. And, if you want to have other people submit things, create an account, and then create a second account as a club. that way they can send you the pictures the want to upload and you can do that for them and of course, give them credit!

Since you want to incorporate this into your own site, try using "gallery2". You can google it.
Also do a google on "free image gallery scripts" or "free php image galler scripts". Depending on the results you get you may want to use the word "photo" instead of image.
These scripts are often open source, very secure, easy to modify and configure, and FREE.
