    Harvey shows in …
Harvey shows in this the same talent that he showed in the Manchurian Candidate; that he could act stiffly and badly and somehow get away with it. And how hot was Joanna Pettet back then!!! When i was young I was really torn between her and Julie Christie.

I remember this story, kind of creepy, as much for the man as for the bug.

Hahaha. That’s some of the worst writing I’ve ever encountered. hahahaha

@here4family: If it makes you feel any better, the human brain itself has no feeling, and an earwig could not bore through your brain. It couldn’t get through the bone around the skull. The worst it could give you is an ear infection.

Reminds me of my thoughts after watching Saw. It had a clever little twist at the end but it wasn’t close to being scary. The acting was horrifying though.

    To this day earwigs …
To this day earwigs send screams of shivers up and down my spine. I mash every one I see because of this episode. I think shows like Night Gallery and The Outer Limits did more to my sleep up over the last 40 years than anything else. Today’s “horror”, although more technical and gruesome, doesn’t hold a candle to watching Night Gallery on a creepy wind-strewn night in our 100 year old house at the end of that darkly unlit dead end street, right beside the old swamp.

This was also an Old-Time Radio program from “Beyond Midnight”, circa 1950. The episode was called (oddly enough) “Something On His Mind”. I have to admit, I enjoyed the OTR program more; but this was VERY well presented. The radio show was slightly different, but the same story. In fact, it’s one of my favorites. Definitely worth a listen. THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

    This affected me …
This affected me more than any other episode; I FELT what Laurence Harvey was feeling, (the thought of something inside your head drove me crazy!) I was just mesmerized by his pain and the whole show, what a fantastic episode this was, and as another poster commented, he is superb In The Manchurian Candidate, what a great actor he was. Also Walk on the Wild Side.

Yeah, I know. A very sad story, and sad for all of us to lose such a talent so soon.

  14. Neville6000 says:

    This was his last …
This was his last role, and he was dying of cancer when he filmed this episode-in fact, in the scenes where he’s in pain, he had stopped taking his cancer meds and was in pain.

Saw this many years ago, and didn’t know who Laurence Harvey was. Many years later, I bought a DVD of the original Manchurian Candidate, and Harvey was superb in that. To now know he not only did a Night Gallery, but one of the best ones, is very gratifying. Thank you very much for posting this.
