Barely five years after the Nairobi National Museum closed its doors to undertake major refurbishments, those efforts to modernize the museum have come to naught after the museums gate and famous sculpture of the evolution of early man were demolished to pave way for the ongoing construction of Thika Highway. The two icons came down after it was discovered that they were on a road reserve.

Now I know they’re serious, at least they seem to be. I wonder though, what they’ll do when a politician’s house is in the way. Am waiting to see what they’ll do about the houses in Runda that are on the road reserve and the ones on riparian land; that’s when I’ll be sure they’re serious.
