My father died on October 8 of this year. Three days later Mom and I buried his earthly body on the 40th anniversary of the death of her father and my grandfather. I fell in love with this song many years ago, so much so that I sang it in a local variety show in Birmingham three years ago. After this October, however, I may never sing it again; the hurt’s too deep right now.
