MATCHA: Japanese Tattoo at Asian Art Museum of San Francisco

October 112009

Posted in museums | 20 Comments »

There’s more to getting inked than you think. Takahiro Kitamura — aka “HORITAKA,” apprentice to the revered master Horiyoshi III — is an author, prolific tattoo artist, and owner of San Joses State of Grace. He will deliver a talk on the time-honored art of Japanese tattoos, a rich culture of beauty, commitment, and history.

See LIVE demonstrations of employing both traditional (no electric needles!) and modern techniques. Joining Horitaka’s diverse, talented crew of tattooists are special guests from Japan — Shige, a powerhouse tat artist who’s showcased all over the world; Mutsuo, who’s designed for Bathing Ape and Hysteric Glamour; and Kazunobu Nagashima, a client of Shige who will proudly display his backpiece, which won a 2007 Milano Tattoo Convention award.

In addition, dip into the world of Zen among ancient Samurai warriors through a guided tour of the galleries, learn about Japanese altars, sample teas by Ito En, soak up DJ Saiman’s aural offerings, enjoy a cocktail with friends, and much more.

Humanity’s Expression

October 22009

As the pace of change in the world accelerates and more and more people are waking up in a spectacular global awakening out of the illusion thrust upon us since birth, we may find that some people are too far gone down the false-rabbit hole consciousness to ever truly wake up. So many of us work for the powers that be; so many of us consider ourselves the resistance. There will be friction, but good always wins in the end over tyranny. Never lose the belief that what we are doing is right. We must wake up as many people as possible. Nothing is more beautiful than the truth.

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

Man’s struggle for freedom is one of the greatest tests and gifts we have as a sentient species.
Nothing feels as good as fighting the good fight.
Some things really are worth life itself. An ideal, a belief, and a love.

The resistance is now. You are free.
